Dear Colleague,
We couldn’t have picked a better week to host our security and interoperability for NFC webinar.

First Everything Everywhere, Telefónica UK and Vodafone UK announced a joint venture to drive the adoption of m-commerce. The partners will develop the technology to enable consumers to transfer their entire physical wallet into a new secure, SIM-based wallet – irrespective of NFC enabled mobile device, or mobile network.
The news caused some analysts to predict that “by next year, everybody could potentially be using their ‘digital wallet’ to pay for their goods and services.”
This concept of service interoperability and cross-industry partnership is also the central theme of this quarter’s newsletter, albeit from a machine to machine (M2M) perspective.
We hear from Geoffrey Zbinden, Head of M2M at Orange Group, on the challenges and opportunities of this rapidly expanding market – and get the inside track on the Orange Group / Deutsche Telekom M2M interoperability initiative in Europe.
Watch The Interview here.
Our regular spotlight article The Feature takes the M2M debate further, discussing the inherent security challenges of this brave new world.

Both NFC and M2M will take centre stage alongside LTE and a host of other topics at this year’s SIMposium, now less than a week away. We still have some delegate places available – and it’s free to operators and end-users. So if you haven’t booked yet, now is the time to do so.

I hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter and I look forward to seeing many of you in Berlin next week.
As always, we’re keen to hear your comments and questions. Please email us at marketing@simalliance.org .
Best regards
