About us

Created in 2000, SIMalliance is a non-profit industry association made up of the world's leading SIM card manufacturers whose role is to:

- Promote the SIM as a secure & flexible multi-application device for the deployment of pioneering mobile multimedia, transactions and communications services & educate the market about the technology

- Advance interoperability further between SIM, Handset and OTA Platform by working with all the participants of the mobile services ecosystem through the creation of dedicated "Workgroups" in charge of:

• Concept workshops for evaluation
• Recommendations on target architecture
• Reference implementations and open source code
• Initial interoperability coordination amongst early implementers
• Running of demonstrations and pilots
• Speaking with one voice to relevant standardisation bodies and forums

- Consolidate and communicate annually an overview of market SIM shipments structured into industry relevant analysis (e.g. region, memory size, browser technology etc.) which currently represents 90% of all SIM shipments

- Produce SIMposium, the annual & international conference and exhibition where the mobile services eco-system meets the SIM Industry and SIMposiumAsia, the first in a series of regional conferences

- Organize SIMagine, the annual world-wide competition honoring the most innovative SIM-based application or start up project
