Born in Prato (Italy), Mr. Macchi graduated from the University of Florence in 2000 and joined Telecom Italia group working as software engineer in CSELT, Turin. In 2001 he moved to TIM as SIM specialist and SIM product designer, contributing to the commercial launches of SIM 64K, USIM 128K and a large set of special SIM cards for corporate markets (including the UIC SIM which allows blind people to "read" SMS). Since 2003 he is the Head of SIM development within the Smartcard & Service development group. Active in the standardization bodies, Mr. Macchi has been the Telecom Italia delegate in 3GPP T3 and ETSI SCP REQ groups. He is now the ETSI SCP REQ Vice-Chairman.
