Lauri Pesonen is the CEO of Venyon, a recently established joint venture between Nokia and Giesecke & Devrient. Venyon prepares the way for mobile operators, transport operators, retailers, banks, credit card companies, and providers of digital services and media worldwide to offer their services and applications to consumers’ Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled mobile devices. With the Venyon’s Secure Chip Management services, consumer applications, such as credit cards or transport tickets can be securely and easily downloaded, over the air via mobile operator’s network to those devices.
Before joining Venyon Lauri worked as Director and Head of NFC Consumer Solutions at Nokia Emerging Business Unit. The objective of Nokia Emerging Business Unit is to identify emerging business opportunities beyond the current scope of Nokia's core business, and to grow and scale these opportunities to create new value. In his role, Lauri was responsible for the NFC business related to consumer solutions and services.
Before joining Nokia Lauri was working in the smart card industry for Setec, now part of Gemalto. Lauri held various executive management positions at Setec, such Head of Smart Card Division, CTO and Executive Vice President, Head of Sales.
