Board Director, SIMalliance

In developing markets such as India and China, once the credit on a prepaid SIM card has expired there is no incentive for consumers to top-up the same SIM card rather than discarding and purchasing a new, possible cheaper, one.

This low loyalty, low retention market results in operators facing constant customer turnover and SIM card manufacturers being bled by cheaply manufactured, disposable cards.

In Round Table groups discuss:

 - To what extent would operators revenues be lifted by an increase in customer loyalty?
 - What methods have been discussed and experimented with to increase SIM card loyalty?
 - How can the industry make higher-quality SIM cards more attractive to low-income consumers?
 - Which groups in the industry should be focusing on this problem?
