SIMalliance to speed delivery of new UICC-based value added services. SIMalliance Loader Release 6 and Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7 will enhance interoperability of UICC technologies to enable a new class of compelling services.

London, 21st April 2009: SIMalliance, the global association of SIM card manufacturers, announces the latest version of its loader tool SIMalliance Loader Release 6 to enable the delivery of a new class of services on the Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC). To further support the development of next generation services, SIMalliance also announces the latest version of Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7, a practical guide for the development of Java applications guaranteed to be interoperable with the Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM).

Aimed at network operators, application developers and wireless service providers, the two new deliverables are designed to increase the interoperability of UICC technologies, enlarge the community of application developers and ultimately increase the value of UICC applications to boost the deployment of new value added services.

“Technologies such as Smart Card Web Server (SCWS) and Mobile NFC put the UICC at the centre of the mobile services ecosystem, facilitating secure over-the-air delivery of new services to consumers.” said Michel Canitrot, Chairman of the Board, SIMalliance. “The SIMalliance is laying the foundation to create an interoperable environment which will speed the delivery of these mobile converged services. With our new deliverables, SIMalliance Loader Release 6 and Java Card Stepping Stones Release 7, new technologies are ready to be deployed and UICC interoperability is guaranteed.”
