Gary began his career in the semiconductor industry in the mid eighties as a software engineer, developing a number of applications that were used by the much of the semiconductor industry for testing and diagnosing faults with their emerging products. In 1992, moving into the GSM sector, Gary developed what became the de facto standard SIM/Mobile Test & Diagnostic tool, and headed up Aspects Tools that sold this product into all of the main players globally. This success enabled the business to attract nearly $20m venture capital funding allowing further product developments. At the same time Gary became a key player in the standardisation activities of the GSM SIM card, and continues that role today in a number of standards groups. For the last 5 years Gary has been with Telefónica O2 Europe plc, and advises the business technically in a number of areas, including SIM, DRM, data cards, location, messaging, NFC and M2M.
