Patrice Beaudou, ARC-SCT Chair, OMA
Patrice Beaudou was elected as chairman of the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) Smart Card Technology sub-working group in August 2007. The Smart Card Technology Subgroup (SCT) primarily serves as the source of expertise for OMA on issues related to smart cards. The Enablers handled by SCT are the SCWS (Smart Card Web Server) and OBKG (On Board Key Generation, WIM).
Patrice is actually leading the Telecom Network Application standardization group in Gemalto. Patrice and his team are in charge of, among other things, the OMA standardization activity.
Before that, Patrice headed the Standardization & Technology department in Axalto for 5 years.
Patrice was previously a senior consultant for Schlumberger Wireless Consulting. As such, he had in charge of assisting clients to design WIM and Wireless PKI solutions, SIM Toolkit Applications and Value Added Services on SIM and Smart Cards, as well as defining logistics and personalization.
Until April 2000, Patrice headed the SIM Cards Department for 4 years at SFR, a leading French Mobile Network Operator and was mainly in charge of: SIM Toolkit Applications development, integration and validation; relationships with SIM card and mobile manufacturers; technical support on Smart Cards. Patrice and his team were also involved in different standardization comities dealing with mobile and smart card aspects such as ETSI/SMG9, 3GPP-T3, WAP Forum.
Patrice spent the 4 preceding years at ALCATEL Mobile Phone, a French mobile manufacturer, designing the digital hardware of the handsets.
Patrice dedicated one year and a half at CERN, dealing with heterogeneous mail gateways, Digital Network Switch to enable the interconnectivity between CERN and other research centers.
Patrice’s first year of professional experience was with a start-up dealing with A.S.I.C. (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design.
Patrice graduated from “Institut National des Télécommunications” (I.N.T.) and holds a postgraduate diploma in microelectronics from “l’Université d’Orsay” near Paris.
